This year’s Burns Supper was a tremendous success
The meal served by Arlene and her kitchen-gang and waitresses was to her usual standard.
The Speakers and the musical artists were excellent and along with the audience participation in the Sing Song it made for a great evening. A very good first-time toast to the Artists from WSW Bro Mihir Joglekar too.
In that regard special thanks go to:
- Bro Gordon Wishart Jnr of The Gael for Piping us in and The Haggis
- Bro Steve Kidd who stepped in for the delayed Bro Charles Mawer and gave the Selkirk Grace
- Bro Angus Cameron PM for the well-researched Immortal Memory
- Mr Andy Morris on the fiddle. (was it not great to hear that sound again and memories of Bro Bobby Harvey)
- Mr Lawrence Gilmore, on guitar and my Tam O’Shanter on the evening
- Bro Ross Forrest PM a sublime performance of The Libel Summons
- Mr Nichol Wheatley (artist) who provided me with permission to use his pictures depicting scenes from Tam O’Shanter on the evening during my recital
The attention and respect to the artists was excellent and the generosity of the Brethren and Gentlemen in the game of chance and tray collection leaves me humble.
Aside from having a good time, I am pleased to report that we raised £727, with which we were able to make the following Donations thus far:
- Shoes for autism £100 this was presented on the night
- Who dares cares £100
- PGL Appeal for the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat of £235 which includes the £50 winner of the reverse bingo, Bro. Ian Lister IPM.
- Bearsden Boys Brigade 1st and 3rd £100 each
Thanks again and see you next year.
